Well, I'll see you guys in a couple of weeks. I'm off in the morning to visit DD (who turns 26 tomorrow!) I've packed my warm clothes, have a good mystery to read on the plane and some knitting in my bag. I'm looking forward to sitting down and having some good chatting over a cuppa and a real, in-person hug from my girl...Yay! I'm sure I'll have amazing photos to share when I get back. Oh! and I DO look forward to seeing the reveals at Interpret This! when I return! Keep the home fires burnin' kids...and TRY to behave...=-)

This is for Debra...not mojo, really, but something....
There were fabric bins on the counter on Sunday...well, bin, actually, singular... I'm not making anything huge but it is huge in the sense that I haven't sewn anything in a very long time and now I'm gonna. I'm making a couple of pin cushions...hah...baby steps, but steps nonetheless... I wanted them in 30s colors, bright and cheerful. I knew I was going to have to make them, get out the fabrics, and cut, and pin, and sew...they were not going to just appear in front of me in a nice neat package already made and waiting for the gifting for which they are intended... I have not gone nutso and so far as to uncover the sewing machine because that would entail finding it under the piles of sh...uh...stuff that has been accumulating for months on my table and on the floor and, really, ev.er.y.where in my sewing room. I just don't have the time for that job with all the preparations for our trip which starts Sunday...but I CAN hand piece them...in odd monents here and there, and in the evenings in front of the TV as I watch my soap or whatever else I have on the DVR waiting...or maybe I can concentrate on them while the screechers and the poor souls get their hearts broken on the Idol tryouts...
I have to say that I got a little touch of that excited feeling in my stomach that I used to get whenever I'd cut out a new project...back in the bad old days when I was a quilting maniac...it was a nice finish to my Sunday afternoon...
PS: It is raining and gusting like absolute CRAZY right now...a good day to cozy in...I'm loving it!

We interrupt this program with a weather update...
...or: Storm Watch 2010 =-)
We're nothing if not dramatic here in So CA...but when it rains every 5 years or so, it's kind of a big deal...=-) BTW, this is the view from my chair...now I need to get back to work...or back to my soap...or both...
First things first...
I have been knitting and crocheting little baby hats for a darling tiny grand niece this last week. Her mama doesn't care for baby pastels and it has been impossible for her to find hats for the wee one. So, of course, I told her I could make her some... =-) It was a lot of fun. I even ended up loving the little black cloche...Black? For a baby? My first instinct was, "Oh, no, not black for a baby," but it turned out really cute and the sweetie pie looks like a little Amish baby in it. I made 3 hats altogether, a fuchsia roll brim cloche, a purple beanie, and the black crocheted cloche. Unfortunately I forgot to take a pic of the fuchsia one when I finished it last week and gave it to her, but I remembered at the last minute before I walked out the door with the other two to snap pics of the purple and the black. Sorry, no pics of the baby, but let me tell you, the black cloche was a HUGE hit and she was aDORable in it! Mama says her friends are all gonna want one like the black one and that I "could make a lot of money"...haha! I don't think I'll go into the baby hat business but it sure was fun =-)
Next up: Fabric bins?? On my counter?? Stay tuned...but don't get too excited...=-)

A new dawn...
Oh my! The dawn this morning was GLO.RI.OUS! I have such an energy. Maybe because the holidays are over, the house is empty, and it's time to get back to life... I feel energy all around me...what ever is going on I'm hoping to get a lot done today, and maybe more than today...who knows...this could be the start of something big =-)
